Three buildings.
Endless opportunities.

Our campus spans three distinct buildings, giving students the feel of a connected, college-style environment in the heart of Philadelphia. Each building blends the historic character of Broad and Vine with modern spaces where young men learn, grow, and explore their interests.

1890 Building
A hub of college prep in the heart of the city

Named after the year in which it was built, the historically certified 1890 Building serves to prepare young men for their futures. With dedicated facilities for outdoor gatherings, religious services, athletic training, and rigorous academics, the building welcomes students to find and build their paths forward.

Alumni quad

This open courtyard in the center of the building provides a space for pep rallies and student lunch. Its pavers honor generations of Roman alumni.

Gym

Built before the invention of basketball, this historical landmark has helped Roman secure 109 athletic championships — including 65 in basketball.

World language labs

Housing over 130 years of language history, these labs provide cutting-edge technology and interactive training to prepare students for a global future.

Mock trial courtroom

Designed by award-winning design firm Strada LLC and inspired by top law schools, this unique space hosts regional competitions and the state’s largest mock trial program.

Science labs

These spaces and fully equipped for biology, chemistry, physics, astronomy (in partnership with The Franklin Institute), sports medicine (with Rothman Orthopaedics), anatomy, and physiology — complete with a state-of-the-art 3D printer.

Chapel

Students gather here to reflect on and grow their faith. Prayer services and liturgies are held regularly throughout the school year.

The Howard Center for the Arts
A cutting-edge practice and performance space for emerging artists

Opened in 2018 near the Avenue of the Arts, the Howard Center reflects Roman’s commitment to cultivating artistic talent. Complete with a ceramics studio and mixed media education areas, it houses spaces where students create, perform, collaborate, and discover their voices.

Black Box theater

This high-tech space hosts high-profile events including Faustina: Messenger of Divine Mercy, U.S. Army Field Band performances, Christmas concerts, and more.

Band room

This soundproof, acoustically engineered space supports Roman’s four-year music program, offered in partnership with Play On Philly.

Digital media lab

Photography and videography students use this space’s high-performance Mac computers to edit and refine their work.

Art studio

This dedicated facility provides space for growing artists — enriched by Roman’s partnerships with PAFA, Studio Incamminati, and the Philadelphia Art Museum.

McSherry Annex
