TURN YOUR TAXES INTO SCHOLARSHIPS FOR ROMAN STUDENTS Instead of paying taxes to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, you can redirect that money to scholarships for Roman students in need!
If your household income is $40,000 or more, you have an annual state tax liability of at least $1,000, which qualifies you to participate.
This is how it works...
Let's say you paid $1,000 in taxes to PA last year and you expect to pay at least that much this year. (A copy of your 2020 PA tax return will indicate how much you paid last year.)
You write a check for $1,000 by the end of the year to the Foundation for Catholic Education or BLOCS, scholarship organizations that provide aid to Roman students.
In early 2022, you receive a Schedule K-1 from the Foundation for Catholic Education or BLOCS that you file with your 2021 PA tax return.
PA sends you a tax refund of $900 (or whatever 90% of your donation amount is.)
It's that easy!
Through this tax credit program, your gift of $1,000 for scholarships for Roman students only costs you $100. And that $100 can be deducted on your federal tax return as a charitable gift, if you itemize.
Please note that $1,000 is the minimum, you can redirect your entire PA tax liability ($5,000, $10,000, or more) and make a huge impact for a student at Roman and receive a 90% credit of that amount.

MOCK TRIAL PLACES 2ND IN THE WORLD! Congratulations to our Mock Trial Team on their 2nd place finish at the Empire World Tournament in Chicago! What a great honor for these Cahillites and our school. Next up is defending our city title!
ALUMNI MEMORIAL MASS & HOMECOMING 2021 Due to the limitations imposed by the ongoing pandemic, the 2021 Memorial Mass and Homecoming were held in a virtual format for the second year in a row. While this decision was disappointing to many, the desire to keep everyone safe far outweighed the risks of gathering in-person.
On Sunday, October 24, 2021 the annual Alumni Memorial Mass & Homecoming took place in the Black Box Theater in the Howard Center for the Arts and broadcasted live from Roman's Facebook page. A beautiful Mass was offered by our Rector, Father Bongard, in honor of the Cahillites and other members of the Roman family who have passed away this past year.
After Mass, viewers heard remarks from current student body president Chris Kleinkurt '22, School President, Rev. Joseph Bongard '77 and Alumni Association President Chris Gibbons '79. Longtime Homecoming chairman Michael Pelone '77, read the names of our deceased brothers we lost this past year. Additionally, the election of the Alumni Officers was held virtually by Lou Ferrero '68 who ended the ceremony by leading the singing of "The Purple & Gold." Kudos and thanks to all the members of the Homecoming Committee, chaired for the first time this year by Frank Auddino '08.
