July 23, 2020 +Dear Friends in Catholic Education,
Over the past several months we have remained in regular communication with our students, families, teachers, administrators, and other staff to share information about our ongoing response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In early July, you received letters from Bishop Fitzgerald and me which promised details about our plans for the upcoming academic year.
Today, we are unveiling Catholic High Schools Compass: Continuing Excellence in Catholic Education. It is being sent to school families, teachers, staff and other stakeholders in our schools through the five-county region. It contains detailed information regarding Archdiocesan plans for our high schools to safely reopen on time in September as well as contact information for those who may have questions. Recently, we previewed the highlights of this plan with our classroom educators, presidents, and principals.
The full plan is being shared with everyone at the same time today. We remain grateful for the opportunity to provide your sons and daughters with a high quality education that is academically excellent and grounded in the values of our faith tradition. God bless you,
Sister Maureen L. McDermott, IHM, PhD Superintendent for Secondary Schools Archdiocese of Philadelphia
