Senior parents/guardians:

I hope you are enjoying the summer break. Last week I emailed Roman seniors about the addition of two new College Prep level elective course offerings for this year: Fitness for Life and Music History. I also wanted to email parents/guardians about this opportunity.

The Fitness for Life course counts as a Physical Education elective for any student who needs to meet that requirement. However, students who have already taken Phys. Ed. can still take this course. The Music History course counts as a Fine Arts elective.

If your son wants to be rostered for either course, or if you have questions, please email me at cbuck@romancatholichs.com. Students will be rostered for these courses on a first come, first serve basis. Course descriptions are below.

FITNESS FOR LIFE
College Prep

This course is designed to guide the students to develop a personal fitness program utilizing concepts of muscle physiology and nutrition.  This course covers the basic concepts and principles of exercise.  Students study the beneficial effects of regular exercise and nutritional diets, maintaining a healthy weight and prevention of life-style diseases.  Each student will be evaluated and an individual fitness program will be recommended.

MUSIC HISTORY

College Prep

This class is designed to give students a basic understanding of music and to inspire an appreciation for music from a variety of genres and cultures. Students will study the components of music, explore music of world cultures, investigate composers throughout the history of classical music, and investigate the popular music of today.
