June 5, 2019

Dear Parents/Guardians and Seniors,

The following are some reminders of information that was discussed at the Senior Parent/Student Night in March as well as some additional information as we move towards Baccalaureate and Graduation on Friday.

The Baccalaureate Mass and Commencement Exercises for the Class of 2019 will take place at the

Cathedral-Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul on Friday, June 7, at 2:30 PM. The academic procession of graduates, administrators, and faculty will begin at 2:10PM.

Caps/Gowns/Ticket Distribution

Caps, gowns, and tickets were distributed during Graduation Practice today.

Tickets/Seating

Students received 2 Reserved and 2 General Admission tickets today.

A reminder to please contact the Student Services Office for specials needs access to the Cathedral no later than 9AM tomorrow morning (Thursday, June 6th) at 215-627-1270(ext. 135).

Please remember that each student received announcements and thank you notes a few weeks ago. These announcements are not tickets. Please do not bring the announcements to the Cathedral-Basilica. Admission to the Cathedral-Basilica is by ticket only.

Graduation Protocol

Students must report to the Chapel of the Cathedral at 1:30PM on Friday. Students should enter through the Chapel doors rather than the main doors of the Cathedral. Students must wear their school tie, white shirt, and black dress pants under their cap and gown. NO sandals, NO sneakers, and NO earrings are permitted. Students must be cleanly shaven. Please do not bring hangars or plastic bags into the Chapel. Parents are not permitted in the Chapel.

The Cathedral doors will open for parents and guests at 1:30 PM. In order to avoid confusion and awkward circumstances for the faculty and student ushers, we ask that families arrive together. Saving seats is not permitted. Balloons are not permitted in the Cathedral, out of respect for the sanctity of the ceremony and our environment. No food or drink is permitted. All cell phones must be turned off. Faculty ushers, student ambassadors, and Mr. Conroy will be available in the Cathedral to address these and any other issues. We ask that guests remain quiet, holding applause during the ceremony, so that all parents can hear their son’s name called.

Diploma covers will be distributed during the ceremony. Graduates will return to the Chapel after the ceremony to receive their actual diploma once the diploma cover is returned.

Parking

Limited parking will be available in the Archdiocesan Office Building/Cathedral-Basilica parking lot (222 N. 17th Street) beginning at 2PM. If that lot is filled, guests may wish to consider the Gateway Parking Garage(1540 Spring Street) or other parking lots in the area. Please note that for those who used the Hahnemann Wood Street parking garage for events during the school year----there is no discounted parking available at that facility the day of Baccalaureate/Graduation.

Broadcast of Baccalaureate Mass/Commencement Exercises

The Baccalaureate Mass and Commencement Exercises will be live streamed on the Roman Catholic High School website. Go to www.romancatholichs.com to view the live broadcast which will begin at the start of the ceremonies. DVD’s of the ceremony may be purchased (students received an order form a few weeks ago).

Please remember to follow all other policies and guidelines that were distributed, discussed, and addressed at the Senior Parent/Student meeting in March.
