Forty Hours of Devotions at Roman Catholic High School
We will begin Catholic Schools Week with a longtime Philadelphia tradition (established by St. John Neumann) of Forty Hours Eucharistic Devotions. It is my hope that this special devotion will be a rich blessing for the entire Roman Catholic Family. We will open Forty Hours at the School Mass at the Cathedral Basilica on Monday. The Mass ends with a brief, simple procession of the Blessed Sacrament. Forty Hours continues Tuesday in the gymnasium with day-long Eucharistic Adoration. Everyone is welcome to stop in the makeshift gymnasium-chapel and spend some quality time with the Lord. Also, theology classes will be taking 15 minute sessions of quiet prayer. Forty Hours will conclude Tuesday, 8th period with “Closing Benediction” and the recitation of the Divine Praises. Every 8th period theology class will attend, and everyone in every office is invited.
Let us hope and pray that Roman’s Forty Hours Eucharistic Devotions will be a rich source of blessing for us.
Divine Praises Closing Prayer:
May the heart of Jesus in the Most Blessed
Sacrament be praised, adored, and loved, with grateful
Affection, at every moment, in all the tabernacles
Of the world, even to the end of time. Amen.
